IsoSoft Lotion (2.5%+0.1%+0.1%+2.5%) is a medicated emollient lotion manufactured by Unimed & Unihealth Manufacturers Ltd. — Bangladesh's trusted dermatology brand. Each 100ml contains Liquid Paraffin 2.5%, Benzalkonium Chloride 0.1%, Chlorhexidine Dihydrochloride 0.1%, and Isopropyl Myristate 2.5%.
IsoSoft offers a dual benefit: the emollients hydrate and restore the skin barrier, while the antimicrobials prevent secondary bacterial infection from scratching — a common complication of pruritic (itchy) skin conditions.
Liquid Paraffin 2.5%: A mineral oil-based emollient that forms an occlusive film on the skin surface, sealing in moisture, softening dry skin, and protecting the skin barrier from irritants and allergens.
Isopropyl Myristate 2.5%: A light emollient ester that enhances skin softness and spreadability without greasiness — improves absorption and cosmetic feel of the lotion.
Benzalkonium Chloride 0.1%: A quaternary ammonium antiseptic that disrupts bacterial cell membranes — effective against Gram-positive bacteria (including Staphylococcus aureus, common in infected eczema) and many Gram-negative bacteria.
Chlorhexidine Dihydrochloride 0.1%: A broad-spectrum antiseptic with residual antimicrobial activity — binds to skin proteins and continues to kill bacteria after rinsing, reducing re-colonisation risk.
Store below 30°C. Keep away from direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children. Do not freeze.
Consult a dermatologist for severe, infected, or widespread eczema. IsoSoft Lotion is a supportive treatment — persistent skin conditions require professional evaluation.
Management of eczema and dermatitis
Relief of dry, itchy, and irritated skin conditions
Daily skin care as a soap and cleanser alternative for sensitive or problem skin
IsoSoft Lotion contains both antimicrobial agents and emollients:
Antimicrobials:
Benzalkonium chloride and chlorhexidine hydrochloride help reduce bacteria on the skin that may worsen eczema and prevent secondary infection caused by scratching.
Emollients:
Liquid paraffin and isopropyl myristate moisturize, soften, and protect the skin by trapping moisture, restoring the skin’s barrier function, and reducing dryness and irritation caused by frequent washing or use of conventional soaps.
The lotion may be safely used alongside other emollients or prescribed treatments for dry skin disorders.
For all age groups (Adults, Children, and Elderly):
Apply the lotion to the affected areas of skin
Gently smooth into the skin without vigorous rubbing
Allow excess lotion to absorb naturally
Reapply as often as required
If another topical treatment is being used on the same area, apply the products alternately, allowing sufficient time between applications to prevent mixing.
Use instead of regular soap or shower gel
The product will not foam or lather
After washing or bathing, gently pat the skin dry with a soft towel
Pump Dispenser Use (500 ml bottle):
Turn the pump head anti-clockwise to unlock
Prime the pump by pressing several times before first use
No dose adjustment required in patients with renal impairment
The ingredients have been widely used for many years without reported adverse effects. IsoSoft Lotion may be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding, although formal safety trials have not been conducted.
Most users tolerate IsoSoft Lotion well. Rarely reported reactions include:
