Olanzapine is an atypical antipsychotic that interacts with:
Serotonin receptors: 5HT2A/2C, 5HT3, 5HT6
Dopamine receptors: D1–D5
Cholinergic muscarinic receptors: M1–M5

Mechanism of Action:
The precise mechanism is not fully understood. It is believed that Xytrex’s effects in schizophrenia are due to a combination of dopamine and serotonin 5-HT2 receptor antagonism.
Pharmacokinetics:
Well absorbed orally, peak plasma levels in 5–8 hours
Food does not affect absorption
Not mutagenic, clastogenic, or carcinogenic
- Children (<18 years): Not studied
- Elderly (>65 years): Start at 5 mg/day
- Hepatic or renal impairment: Start at 5 mg/day
Can be taken with or without food
Dose tapering is recommended when discontinuing treatment
Schizophrenia or bipolar disorder (combination therapy):
