✔️ Pharmacology

Tetrax inhibits protein synthesis in bacteria by actively transporting through the cell membrane, binding to 30S ribosomes. It is effective against some Gram-positive cocci but is not recommended for Gram-positive aerobic infections. It is active against Brucella, Calymmatobacterium granulomatis, and some anaerobes, though resistant strains are common. Around 60–80% of Tetrax is absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract and distributed widely throughout body tissues and fluids. It has a 12-hour half-life and is excreted via urine and feces.

✔️ Dosage & Administration of Tetrax Capsule

• Adults: 1-2 g daily in 2-4 divided doses.
• Children (over 8 years): 25-50 mg/kg daily in 2-4 divided doses.

Specific conditions:

• Acne: 250 mg four times daily for a week; then 125-250 mg as needed.
• Acute infections: 1-2 g daily for 10-14 days.
• Brucellosis: 500 mg four times daily plus streptomycin, followed by tetracycline alone.

Tetrax should be taken one hour before or two hours after meals.
