Bacitracin acts by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis. It is effective against many Gram-positive organisms (Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, Corynebacterium, Clostridium) and some Gram-negative bacteria (e.g., Neisseria, H. influenzae).

Ointment: Clean and gently prepare the affected area before applying. Apply a thin layer 2–3 times daily.

Dusting Powder: Apply a light dusting up to 4 times daily for superficial skin infections. This powder is non-sterile and for external use only.

Children: Safe at adult doses.
Infants: Dose should be reduced.
Neonates: Not recommended.

Bacitracin: Risk of nephrotoxicity increases with other nephrotoxic agents; may potentiate neuromuscular blockers.
Neomycin: Interaction risk with aminoglycosides, cisplatin, diuretics, amphotericin B, and other nephrotoxic drugs. Can alter drug absorption, enhance hypoglycemic effects (e.g., acarbose), and affect anticoagulant (INR) and neuromuscular drug activity.

Known hypersensitivity to bacitracin, neomycin, or any of the formulation’s components.

Neocin is generally well tolerated. In rare cases, allergic reactions such as rash or itching may occur.
