It is well absorbed from the GI tract but undergoes first-pass hepatic metabolism. Peak plasma levels occur within 1–1.5 hours. Elimination half-life: 3–6 hours. Metabolites are excreted via urine.

✔️ Dosage & Administration:
Adults:
- Hypertension: Start 80 mg twice daily; maintenance 160–320 mg/day.
- Angina: 40 mg 2–3 times daily; maintenance 120–240 mg/day.
- Thyrotoxicosis: 10–40 mg, 3–4 times daily.
- Anxiety: 40 mg once daily, may increase to TDS.
- Migraine prophylaxis: 40 mg 2–3 times daily; maintenance 80–160 mg/day.
Children (Hypertension):
- Neonates: 0.25–0.5 mg/kg TDS (adjust as needed).
- 1 month–12 years: 0.25–1 mg/kg TDS (max 5 mg/kg/day).
- 12–18 years: Start 80 mg twice daily; maintenance 160–320 mg/day.

Caution with verapamil, salbutamol, levosalbutamol, ergot alkaloids, lidocaine, and phenobarbital.
