✔️ Trilock is used for the following purposes:

• Prophylaxis and long-term management of asthma
• Acute prevention of Exercise-Induced Bronchoconstriction (EIB)
• Relief of symptoms of Allergic Rhinitis (AR), including both seasonal and perennial forms

✔️ Side Effects

• Common: Diarrhea, fever, gastrointestinal discomfort, headache, nausea, vomiting, skin reactions, upper respiratory infections.
• Uncommon: Anxiety, dizziness, muscle pain, abnormal behavior, sleep disturbances.
• Rare: Severe allergic reactions (angioedema), hallucinations, suicidal tendencies, liver issues, memory loss, palpitations.

✔️ Overdose Effects:

Overdose may cause abdominal pain, drowsiness, headache, vomiting, and hyperactivity. Supportive measures, including removing unabsorbed material and clinical monitoring, are recommended.

✔️ Dosage & Administration:

• Adults and adolescents with asthma or seasonal allergic rhinitis: 10 mg tablet once daily for those aged 15.
• Pediatric patients with asthma or seasonal allergic rhinitis:
  • 6 to 14 years: 5 mg tablet once daily.
  • 2 to 5 years: 4 mg tablet once daily.
  • 6 months to 5 years: 4 mg oral granules once daily (can be taken directly or mixed with cold water or soft food).

No dose adjustment is needed for patients with mild-to-moderate hepatic or renal insufficiency or the elderly.

✔️ Interactions:

Trilock is compatible with common asthma treatments like theophylline, prednisone, oral contraceptives, digoxin, and warfarin without significant drug interactions. However, potent cytochrome P450 enzyme inducers like phenobarbital may reduce Trilock's effectiveness, so monitoring is advised.

✔️ Contraindications:

Trilock should not be used in patients who are allergic to any of its components.

✔️ Pregnancy & Lactation:

Montelukast can cross the placenta in animals, but there are no sufficient studies in pregnant women. It should be used during pregnancy only if necessary. Since the drug is excreted in breast milk, caution should be exercised when breastfeeding.

✔️ Precautions & Warnings:

• Trilock is not for the immediate relief of acute asthma attacks. Patients should have appropriate rescue medication available.
• Trilock should not be substituted abruptly for corticosteroids in asthma management.
• Patients with aspirin sensitivity should avoid aspirin or NSAIDs while using Trilock.
