Indications

Gastrointestinal spasm and hypermotility, cardio spasm, esophageal spasm, gastroduodenitis, spastic constipation, pylorospasm, peptic ulcer, and spasm associated with cancer are all indications for ox phenonium. The biliary system is in pain and spasm. The urinary tract is in pain and spasm.

Pharmacology

Omeprazole is classified as a pregnancy category C by the US Food and Drug Administration. However, three prospective epidemiological studies show that Omeprazole has no negative impact on pregnancy or the health of the fetus/newborn kid. There is no information on Omeprazole's transit into breast milk or its effects on the newborn. If the usage of Omeprazole is regarded necessary, breast-feeding should be terminated.

Dosage & Administration

Average adult dosage is 10 mg (2 tablets) 4 times daily for several days. Dosage may be reduced depending on patient's response or as directed by the physician.

Interaction

Reduced gastric motility makes it difficult to absorb other medications. Other antimuscarinics, such as amantadine, certain antihistamines, phenothiazines, and TCA, enhance the effects.

Contraindications

Glaucoma, obstructive uropathy (for example, bladder neck obstruction due to prospective hypertrophy), obstructive gastrointestinal disease (as in achalasia, paralytic ileus, pyloroduodenal stenosis, etc. ), elderly or debilitated patient's intestinal atony, unstable cardiovascular status in acute hemorrhage, severe ulcerative colitis, toxic megacolon, complicating ulcerative coli

Side Effects

Common side effects are dryness of mouth, headache, palpitations, etc.

Pregnancy & Lactation

Either animal research have showed negative effects on the fetes (teratogenic, embryonical, or other) and no controlled studies in women have been conducted, or studies in women and animals are not accessible. Only if the possible benefit outweighs the risk to the fetus should drugs be administered.
